For the second consecutive year, Atlanta-based Center for Israel Education (CIE) will be offering a special in-service workshop focusing on Modern Israel and Zionist history at the BJEC professional day. Multiple sessions will be presented through the lens of teaching techniques for State Seeking, State Building and State Keeping. Each offering in the seminar will highlight CIE’s approach of blending innovative source-based content with a wide variety of effective pedagogic strategies. Content as per teachers’ requests will focus on the origins of the state, the Uganda proposal, Aliyah, Technology and Innovation, Israel as a Democracy, and Israel’s neighborhood.
Each seminar session will highlight educational and classroom techniques for implementing the material with specific grade levels in both elementary and high school. This includes using STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math) in Israel education, experiential learning, and infusing technology.
