It's Not Just Gym Anymore!

This workshop will begin by examining some of the big questions that surround Physical Education and Health programs- what should the goal of our program be? How do we ensure we’re evaluating students on learning and not genetics? How can we approach fitness testing in a way that is positive and encouraging for all students? The second part of the workshop will take place in the gymnasium, where games and learning activities that follow the Teaching Games for Understanding (“TGFU” for short) model will be presented. TGFU approaches to teaching invasion games (such as Ultimate Frisbee, Handball etc.) as well as Net/Wall games will be presented.
