Target audience: elementary school English Language Arts teachers

Language of workshop: English

The fast-paced world in which we live has become a leading factor behind inattention, increased stress, and higher levels of anxiety in both adults and children. It is thus no surprise that in the past decade, the practice of mindfulness, which helps individuals focus their attention on “being in the present moment”, has gained tremendous popularity in our society. Over the past few years, researchers have discovered the benefits of mindfulness training in children vis-a-vis cognitive, social, and emotional domains. This workshop will enlighten elementary school educators on the research behind the practice and the benefits for all students, especially children with ADHD and anxiety. It will also provide teachers with concrete tools and methods on how to foster a healthier learning environment for all children and themselves as well.
