Target audience: English Language Arts Elementary teachers
Workshop language: English
Recommended: laptop / Ipad / tablet
Our goal as Language Arts teachers is to help students develop the daily habits of reading, writing and working with peers that will lead to a lifetime of independent literacy. The Daily 5 is a literacy structure that allows for differentiation in the classroom and provides consistency. It integrates literacy instruction and classroom management in a doable manner. This workshop will provide teachers of grades 3-6 with general background information of the Daily 5 including its philosophy, foundations and key features. Teachers will be guided through the process of implementing the Daily 5 in the upper grades through videos, pictures and of course, activities. Participants will explore each “Daily” and have the opportunity to discuss, collaborate and ultimately create activities to use in your own classroom. Ideally, it would be beneficial for participants to bring a unit of study that has been used in their class in order to best integrate the activities you create. A laptop or iPad and a USB would be beneficial as well. An invitation to discuss, create and have ready an exciting and sound pedagogic experience for your students.
