Target audience: General Studies and Judaic Studies teachers K-6

Workshop language: English

An essential element to a successful classroom is the creation of a community of learners. This community should celebrate learning, invite collaboration, support struggle and meet challenges. Building such a collaborative environment takes time, which is not easy to give up when content is calling. Through this workshop, teachers will learn the tools and strategies necessary to create a community through class meetings, activities and reflection tools that build a positive environment while teaching and reviewing content. Teachers and students will develop their voices, recognize hopes and dreams and build a supportive and collaborative community. Working from a workbook of outlined strategies, teachers will discuss, reflect, play, laugh and recognize the meaning behind each of the tools shared. Teachers will leave with tools that can be brought into their classrooms the next day.
